Banana Candles recipe (Makes 4) You will need: 4 canned pineapple rings 4 saucers 2 long jelly sweet ribbons (jelly candy ribbons) a knife* 4 fairly straight, firm bananas 2 red jelly sweets (jelly candies) or glace cherries 4 cocktail sticks Drain the juice or syrup off the pineapple rings and put one in the centre of each saucer. Cut each jelly ribbon into two pieces, and tuck the end of each piece under the edge of a pineapple ring. Peel the bananas and cut the rounded ends off each one. Stand one banana in each pineapple ring, tucking the other end of the jelly ribbon between the banana and the pineapple. Cut the jelly sweets or glace cherries in half to make 'flame' shapes, and push each one onto the end of a cocktail stick. Put a 'flame' on each 'candle' by pushing the free end of each cocktail stick into the end of a banana. Your Banana Candles are now ready to serve. *Note: The bananas can be cut with a butter knife or table knife, but cutting the jelly sweets needs a sharp knife and therefore adult assistance for younger children.
